2013 letter

April 5, 2013

Dear Neighbor

Spring is here and it is time to re-open the Plandome Field and Marine tennis courts and waterfront facilities for our members.  The Plandome Field and Marine Club is a non-profit organization that maintains the tennis and waterfront properties along with promoting social and sporting activities for its members.  Approximately 140 Plandome families were club members last year and we invite you to join or renew your membership once again this year. The waterfront and tennis court properties are wonderful assets available to members at a very reasonable cost and do add to the value of member’s properties.

Your dues are the only source of funding which we have in order to maintain these properties.  The annual cost for maintaining, insuring and paying taxes on these properties is approximately $50,000.  In addition, the waterfront property sustained substantial damage from Hurricane Sandy.  Total repair costs will exceed $100,000.   We expect insurance will cover at least 75% of this with the balance coming from our capital reserves.  We have hired contractors to remove the damaged trees and repair the retaining walls, boat racks, plumbing, sprinkler system and house doors.  We are in the process of hiring a contractor to reinforce the support structure of the gazebo at the end of the pier.  In addition, we have had to buy a new floating dock and ramp due to damage from Hurricane Sandy.  I will keep you updated on the progress and request you keep your children under close supervision at the waterfront as the repairs continue.

We are very fortunate to have a group of volunteers who are committed to helping run the Club.  These volunteers include the Furlong family, the Cogan family, the Rielly family, the Mulholland family, the Vetrone family, the Saville family, the Carroll family, the Gahan family, the Roszko family, the Burger family, the Byrne family, theHenderson family and the Connors family.  Thank you for volunteering.

We look forward to a great 2013. Thank you for supporting the Club via your membership. Please return the enclosed membership form with your dues. Please email me at the following address if you have any questions or comments: clubinfo@plandomefieldandmarine.com

Thank you,
